Williams is a four-generation, family-owned business founded by J.B. Williams, Sr., grandfather of the current owner, Bart Williams. The original company served as a local drayage firm hauling freight from the railroad stations to businesses in the Uniontown area and performing local household moves with a wagon and a team of horses. In 1909, J.B. Williams sold all the horses and wagons and purchased the company's first truck. He began doing interstate moving and was granted a "Grandfather Certificate" by the Interstate Commerce Commission to perform interstate moves in 1935.
